CEO Search Update: Where We Are and What’s Next

News

Dear KIPP Atlanta Team and Families,

We want to take a moment to update you on where we are in the search for our next CEO of KIPP Atlanta Schools.

Over the summer, we partnered with Edgility Search to run a comprehensive, community-centered process. Edgility spent more than 36 hours in Discovery, meeting with our leadership team, board members, teachers, principals, heads of schools, managing directors, as well as families and community partners. They also gathered hundreds of survey responses from across the network.

This input was invaluable — it helped us build a clear CEO Candidate Profile that reflects what our community, including all of you, said matters most. Across conversations several themes emerged about the leader KIPP Atlanta needs next:

  • Visionary and Strategic Leadership
  • Change Leadership and Resilience
  • Strong Instructional and Academic Expertise
  • Community and Relationship Building
  • Equity-Focused and People-Centered Leadership
  • Systems and Operational Excellence
  • Clear and Authentic Communication

The search officially launched in early September.  Since then we’ve reviewed a large and diverse pool of applicants — 407 applications in total. Several interview rounds have already taken place, with both Edgility and members of the Search Committee, using the community’s input as our guide throughout. As part of their process, Edgility conducted 38 video interviews, 21 phone interviews, and 6 semi-finalist interviews.

We are now entering the final phase of the interview and selection process. Three finalists have been selected to participate in offsite interviews with the Board, where they will engage in scenario-based exercises.

Looking ahead, we are targeting December 8th for a staff and community meet-and-greet with the sole finalist who will be put forward to the Board for approval as the next CEO of KIPP Atlanta Schools. The Board vote is scheduled for December 9th, and our goal is to announce the new CEO before winter break.

As a reminder, this process is confidential to protect candidates who are currently serving in senior leadership roles elsewhere. At the same time, we remain committed to being as transparent as possible about our progress and decisions.

Thank you for your continued partnership, patience, and trust as we approach the final stage of this important process.

Warmly,

Joe Arnold
Board Chair
