ATLANTA – Following stakeholder engagement and careful deliberation, the KIPP Atlanta Schools Board of Directors voted today to accept Atlanta Public Schools’ (APS) request for KIPP to participate in its Comprehensive Long-Range Facilities Plan. This collaboration will include the planned closure of KIPP Soul Primary School and KIPP Soul Academy, in alignment with APS’s implementation schedule, tentatively set for the 2027–28 school year.

The board authorized closing both KIPP Soul schools, contingent upon APS Board approval of the consolidation plan APS released Oct. 9. KIPP Atlanta Schools continues to collaborate with APS on its Comprehensive Long-Range Facilities Plan. Future actions will prioritize community stability and sound long-term planning. At this time, KIPP Atlanta Schools intends to align with APS’ proposed timeline for implementing the plan, tentatively scheduled for the 2027–28 school year.
Based on ongoing discussions with APS, KIPP Atlanta Schools does not expect other schools in the KIPP Atlanta Schools network to be affected by potential consolidation scenarios. The organization remains committed to transparent communication as this collaborative planning effort progresses.
