Founded in 2020, KIPP Soul Academy is the newest KIPP Atlanta school to open, currently educating grades 5-8. We take pride in ourselves, our history, and our community and our school culture and values are a direct reflection. Our grade levels are rooted in our core values: Fifth Grade – Values, Sixth Grade – Community, Seventh Grade – African Culture, Eighth Grade – Activism.
At KIPP Soul Academy, our scholars are on a path of self-discovery and we empower them to use their voices for the issues that matter to them.
School Leadership
Mr. Emanuel Mathis serves as principal of grades K-8 at KIPP Soul Campus. An Atlanta native, Mr. Mathis has a passion to provide an exceptional educational and extracurricular experience that can propel all Atlanta students into living a choice filled life. Since joining the KIPP family in 2011, Mr. Mathis has worked in three different KIPP Atlanta schools as a learning specialist, math teacher, athletic director, basketball coach, instructional coach, and assistant principal.
Prior to joining KIPP Atlanta Schools, Mr. Mathis taught four years in the Newton County public school system. Mr. Mathis earned his B.S. from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia where he was also a member of the men’s basketball team.
