Grades Served K-4
Founded in 2012, KIPP STRIVE Primary School was the sixth KIPP Metro Atlanta school to open and the first KIPP Metro Atlanta primary school. STRIVE stands for Success Through Rigorous Instruction, Virtue, and Enrichment. Our school was built on the foundation of love – love for ourselves, love for our teammates, and love for our community. We value family partnerships and believe that our school team, families, and students each play an integral role in our community. Every year, our students focus on one value and add a new value each year: First Grade – Believe, Second Grade – Grow, Third Grade – Achieve, and Fourth Grade – Lead.
KIPP STRIVE Primary School shares a campus with KIPP STRIVE Academy (grades 5-8), offering full K-8 academic experience.
Omy Mair is the principal of KIPP STRIVE Primary School. Originally from Boston, her career in education began in 2007 as a fifth-grade teacher in the Gwinnett County Public School System, where she received the teacher of the year award. In 2012, Mrs. Mair joined KIPP STRIVE Primary as one of its founding members. She has served in the roles of learning specialist, founding assistant principal of 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades, and director of operations. To prepare to pursue her passion for teaching, she attended Hampton University, earning her undergraduate degree in psychology and attended Boston College, graduating with her Master’s in Education.
Mrs. Mair holds the unwavering belief that teachers must instill in children a positive attitude about themselves and about their ability to learn. She also believes that education should prepare students for a lifetime of contribution to their people and their society. She is convinced that this requires that children develop a knowledge and appreciation of their history and culture and a belief in their ability to achieve academically at the highest levels.
