The KIPP Atlanta Schools Board of Directors voted today at its Dec. 9 meeting to formally amend our cluster charter with Atlanta Public Schools. The Atlanta Public Schools (APS) board previously voted on Dec. 3 to approve its Comprehensive Long-Range Facilities Plan, in which APS asked KIPP Atlanta to participate. This includes the planned closure of KIPP Soul Primary School and KIPP Soul Academy. As part of this process, at its October 28 meeting, the KIPP Atlanta School Board of Directors voted to close both schools, contingent upon APS’s approval of the plan.
Our top priority throughout this process remains supporting and caring for scholars, families and staff directly impacted. There will be no changes for the current 2025-26SY. We will continue to partner with our KIPP Atlanta community as we navigate this transition together. In the coming weeks we will reach out directly to our KIPP Soul families and staff with details on the transition planning.
