ATLANTA – KIPP Atlanta Schools today announced outstanding results on the 2024-25SY Georgia Milestones assessments, showing the highest increase in a single academic year since the pandemic (spring 2022).
Performance highlights:
● Overall proficiency (scholars scoring in the proficient and above achievement levels) increased by nearly 7 percentage points since the spring of 2022.
● Math achievement soared with an 18-point increase in scholars scoring in the developing and above achievement levels since the spring of 2022.
Year-over-year (2023-24SY to 2024-25SY) highlights:
● Reading achievement met the internal 51% goal for the third consecutive year, with 51.2% of scholars reading above grade level.
● Science proficiency jumped dramatically from 41.8% to 55.5% among scholars scoring in the developing and above achievement level.
● Seventy percent of scholars in third through eighth grade achieved typical or high growth in both English language arts and math.
“These results demonstrate what’s possible when great educators, committed families, and dedicated scholars work together toward a common goal,” said Ra’Chel Ford, interim CEO of KIPP Atlanta Schools. “Our scholars are not just meeting expectations – they’re exceeding them and proving that ZIP code doesn’t determine destiny.”
Standout achievements include:
● American literature proficiency increased from 17.6% to 32.2% since Spring 2024.
● All primary schools met internal math targets with 60% of scholars reaching the developing and above achievement levels.
● Three out of four high school course assessments showed improvement, signaling continued recovery from the pandemic. Notably, Algebra I exceeded its 2019 pre-pandemic performance in both scholars scoring at the proficient and above achievement levels and those at the developing and above achievement levels.
The results reflect KIPP Atlanta Schools’ comprehensive approach to academic excellence, including early literacy initiatives, aligned curriculum, and targeted support for scholars and educators.
