About Nyere Brown, MEd, CMAA

Regional Athletic Director

Coach Brown began coaching in 2005 at Glencliff High School as a Strength and Conditioning Coach and Run Game Coordinator. He began coaching in Georgia in 2007 as a volunteer at Meadowcreek High School under Coach Reggie Perry. Coach Perry hired Coach Brown the following year and is currently his mentor and friend. Since working at Meadowcreek High School in Gwinnett County, Brown has worked under several head coaches and built invaluable experiences and knowledge.

Coach Brown has spent 17 years teaching, coaching, and mentoring at Meadowcreek, Tucker, Redan, and Stone Mountain High Schools in Dekalb County. He also coached at Northeast High School in Macon, GA, where he was voted Assistant Coach of the Year. Additionally, he coached at Shiloh High School in Gwinnett County, where he was voted Assistant Coach of the Year in 2008 and received the Tally Johnson Award. Subsequently, he received his dream job as Director of Athletics and Head Football Coach at KIPP Atlanta Collegiate.

Coach Brown is the current Founding Regional Athletic Director for KIPP Metro Atlanta Schools. He enjoys creating and implementing K-12 athletic programming for KMAS. He aims to allow all scholars to develop a joyful, choice-filled life. He is making a sustainable model of athletics for KIPP Metro Atlanta Schools that propels scholars, coaches, and ADs to their dreams.

Nyere Brown signed a full athletic scholarship to Virginia State University, where he was a four-year letterman in football. While at Virginia State, he received several accolades, including Rookie of the Year, Offensive Lineman of the Year two years straight, and the Don Hansen Division II All-American at left tackle.

AD Nyere Brown believes that God comes first, then family and education. He is a member of the Minority Coaches Association of Georgia and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He pledged at V.S.U. and is a proud Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated member. There he received a B.S. in Health, Physical Education, and Recreation. AD Brown furthered his education at Grand Canyon University, where he received his M.Ed. in Secondary Education. He is a member of NIAAA, where he is a Certified Master Athletic Administrator. AD Brown is also a member of the Georgia Athletic Directors Association. He went on to marry the love of his life, Shavonne Brown, and they have two children: a son Que Bear Brown and a daughter Carmen Omega Brown.
