About Latrina Coxton

Managing Director of Scholar Support

Latrina Coxton supports the strategic implementation of scholar support services across KIPP Atlanta Schools, overseeing Special Education, 504, MTSS, ESOL, and Counseling and Social Work services. Before joining KIPP, she served as Executive Director of Special Services and Educational Support, where she led initiatives that increased graduation rates for students with disabilities by 7%—exceeding the state average by 4%—and generated $4.5 million in new revenue through improved systems and funding alignment. Her leadership also resulted in zero findings in federal compliance reviews and a 19% reduction in non-compliance issues.

Previously, Latrina served as a transformational principal, where she led two schools off Georgia’s “failing schools” list and improved one school’s CCRPI score by 21.3 points in two years. She implemented innovative instructional models such as STEM and Dual Immersion, expanded family engagement, and introduced 1:1 technology integration.

Prior to joining KIPP Atlanta, Latrina was an Executive Coaching Consultant with UVA’s Partnership for Leaders in Education, supporting districts nationwide in leadership development and school transformation. Her coaching contributed to a 4.6% increase in reading proficiency within one year and helped multiple schools exit state-designated turnaround status.

Latrina began her career as a special education teacher and has held various leadership roles at the school and district levels. She holds degrees from Troy University and Central Michigan University and completed her Tier II Educational Leadership Certification at Mercer University. She is a proud wife to a fellow educator and the mother of three sons—two in college and one a recent graduate.

Latrina’s work is grounded in a deep belief that education is a vehicle for equity, and she remains steadfast in her commitment to serving communities, uplifting schools, and creating pathways of opportunity for all scholars.
