About Joseph Grainger

Senior Head of Academics

Joseph is the Senior Head of Academics for KIPP Atlanta Schools. He is an educator dedicated to fostering collaboration to enhance academic achievement, innovation, and sustainable, process-oriented transformations. His work focuses on designing comprehensive region-wide initiatives, engaging professional learning, and improving instructional outcomes.​

Before his role as Senior Head of Academics, Joseph supported the Primary Literacy team in his first year with KIPP Atlanta Schools. He began his leadership journey in 2015 as an assistant principal and spent six years in the school leadership role, serving as a principal for three. During his time leading schools, he worked towards sustainable and continuous improvements in scholar achievement and STEM learning experiences.

Outside of his work with KIPP Atlanta Schools, Joseph enjoys spending time with his family which includes his wife, Jennifer, sons, Henry, Duke, and Nolan, and daughter Noelle.
