About Jim Bostic

Retired Executive Vice President of Environmental, Communications and Government Affairs

James Edward Bostic, Jr., Ph.D., retired as Executive Vice President of Environmental, Communications, and Government Affairs from Georgia Pacific Corporation and worked for G-P for over 30 years. Bostic was a member of the board of trustees of Clemson University, Tuskegee University, and Wofford College. Bostic has also served on the board of directors of Progress Energy Corporation, Raleigh, NC, Wachovia Bank of Georgia, South Carolina National Corporation, and the South Carolina National Bank. Bostic went to Clemson University and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in textile chemistry with honors. He became the first African-American to earn a Ph.D. at Clemson University.

After graduating from Clemson, Bostic was selected to participate in the prestigious White House Fellowship program, appointed as Assistant to the Secretary of Agriculture, and served as Deputy Assistant Secretary at the US Department of Agriculture.
